Rockets – Non School Uniform Day

Friday 24 May 2024

Dear Parents & Carers,

It is that time of year again when we plan the Hellingly Primary School summer fair.

This year the Summer Fair will be on Saturday 6th July between 11:30 am and 3:30 pm we have some new stalls, some old favourites and great arena events planned. See the attached flyer! We look forward to seeing you there.

On Friday 24th of May, we have arranged a Non Uniform day for the whole school, and are asking if you would be able to donate a raffle prize or item to help support the fair.

We would like to ask that Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 bring in sweet jars for our sweet jar tombola, The sweet jar tombola is a very popular stall at our fairs, and as always, we would really appreciate a donation of a jam jar (or similar!) full of sweets. We do ask for hygiene reasons, that the sweets are wrapped, and as it’s our summer fair, no chocolate, but apart from that anything goes. If you are artistic, please feel free to decorate the jars too!

We would like to ask year 3, 4, 5 and 6 children if they could bring in bottles. These can be bottles of wine for our water or wine Tombola or if you prefer anything else which comes in a bottle or anything else we could use as a tombola prize, that would also be very much appreciated.

There will be a table by the main school entrance at the morning drop off and afternoon pick up for your donations. No matter how small, they would be very much appreciated and allow us to raise as much money as possible to fund the extra items of which are so valuable to the school.

As usual, we are also selling stalls for the event, so if you have homemade art or craft items, jams or chutneys or anything else which you would like to sell at the fair, please do email us on

We are also looking for any local businesses who would like to sponsor the event, of which we would be happy to discuss having a presence at the fair, or having a display to promote your business we would also be keen to hear from you.

Please make sure you follow us on Facebook for updates on our Summer Fair and to be kept up to date on future events

Your sincerely,

The Rockets

The children really enjoy this activity and we always look forward to helping them make their choices and wrapping the gifts!

World Book Day – Thursday 2nd March 2023

All the children enjoyed celebrating World Book Day, following the theme ‘you are a reader’.

There was a variety of activities during the day, including a treasure hunt for book themed pebbles, live events by children’s authors as well as a draw along with a World Book Day illustrator. Our special day kicked off with assembly, where the children took part in a cat walk to share their amazing costumes.

At the end of the day, all the children took home a special book token to spend as well.

World Book Day

A huge thank you to our school community for the excellent engagement and enjoyment the children have had celebrating World Book Day.

Pupils have enjoyed special Key Stage Assemblies looking at the history of World Book Day and sharing their costumes and favourite books. There has also been participation in online events led by famous children’s authors. Our celebration concluded with a story telling relay, with teachers dashing from class to class to pick up a great story where the last teacher left off.

Every child has received a book token to take home so that they can purchase a book of their own.

We have all enjoyed thinking about how ‘you are a reader’ the theme for World Book Day this year.
